Christmas Lecture at the Science and Industry Museum

Every year, the Royal Institution hosts a series of Christmas Lectures. These were started in 1825 by Michael Faraday and have been running ever since.

In December 2019, the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester hosted a live streaming of one of the Christmas Lectures. The lecture was called ‘Secrets and Lies: The Hidden Power of Maths’ hosted by Mathematician Dr Hannah Fry. Before the live streaming, there were a number of workshops in the museum with different activities which Rachel’s ‘Create and Change the World with Maths’ was a part of.

We brought along our little cousins, it was a brilliant event all round and the lecture really showed how Maths is present in all our lives and our world.
